Our Travels Through South America
Over the past three months we have traveled through the continent of South America. We went to Brazil, Peru, and Argentina. We started in the wonderful country of Brazil and ended in Argentina.
Day 2/ February 2
We are staying at the Okuppe hostel- vila mariana in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Our hostel is $ 19.06. At the airport, we each bought a 5 day metro pass for $20. 35. Our hostel is just blocks from the metro station.
Day 3/ February 3
Today we ate free breakfast which our hostel provides and headed out to the metro. We headed down to the most exciting street in the city, Avenida Paulista. This street has many buildings, shops, and resturants. We looked around all day. Although to stay in our budget we didnt buy anything.
Day 5/ February 5
Today we went to Liberdade. Instead of a chinatown its a japantown. Its full of japanese influenced shops and stores. On Sundays like today, there is a great farmers market. We walked around and enjoyed the sites.
Day 6/ February 6
Banespa tower was our destination today. It is a SKYSCRAPER in Sao Pualo that has a great view of the city and best of all its free!
Day 7/ February 7
We said goodbye to Sao Paulo and hello to Rio. We took an 8 hour bus ride to Rio de Janeiro for $40. We saw some beautiful scenery of the country on our trip.
Our hostel provided us free transportation from the bus station to the hostel. The hostel is called El Misti and is located in Rio. It gives us free breakfast for staying more then 3 days which we are staying for 20. Each night only costs $ 3.31. What a deal!

Day 8/ February 8
On our first day of Rio we decided to get a great view of the city. Sugarloaf mountain lets of have our way. You board a cable car for free and ride to the top. It gives you a fantastic view of the city and is very relaxing!
Day 9/ February 9
Christ the Redeemer statue was vistited by us today. It was amzing how big it was. It was free and breathtaking.
Day 10/ February 10
Today we went to Ilha Fiscal. It is a building that looks like its fit for a princess but infact its a headquarters. It cost us each $4.
Day 11/ February 11
Today we went to the beautiful botnical gardens. They were very green and lush. Great way to spend $2!
Day 13/ February 13
We spent another day at the beach because it was so wonderful yesterday we just couldn't get enough!
Day 14/ February 14
Today we went and saw igreja de nossa senhora da gloria do outeiro. It is an old church where a princess has been married.
Day 15/ February 15
Today we went to Santa Teresa. It is one of the oldest parts in Rio. It is very scenic and a good experience.
Day 16/ February 16
Today we went on the Cachoeira das Almas hike. It is also known as the waterfall of souls hike. It is really beautiful and scenic.
Day 22/ February 22
After 4 exhausting days of the carnival. We rested on the beach. We also may have gotten a nice tan.
Day 36/ March 7
Today we went to the Palacio de Gobierno. It is also known as the Presidential palace. It is considered a sacred place to some people. We watched the changing of the Guard outside of the palace.
Day 37/ March 8
Today we went to the Museum of the Inquisition. This museum shows the importance of the Spanish inquisition on the city. It even showed the dungeon cells of where the accused were held.
Day 38/ March 9
Today we visited the Casa De Osambela. We looked through this old house and went to the top. There was a wonderful view of the city from the top and a big library with a ton of books!
Day 39-53/ March 10-24
For the next two weeks we are doing a volunteer program! It is helping with displaced children in Lima, Peru. It is a wonderful experience and really helps these kids out!
Day 54/ March 25
Today we went to the museo naval. It is a museum about the country's naval forces. It was intresting to another countries forces.
Day 55/ March 26
Today for our last day in Lima, we are going to yet another museum. They have a museum of submarines. It was different to go and tour submarines.
Day 56/ March 27
Today we left Lima and went to cusco. We traveled by plane. The plane ticket cost $281.
We stayed in the Wild Rover Hostel in Cusco, Peru. The hostel costs $7 per night. We bought a tourist pass for the city of cusco for $23. This pass gives us entrance to many attractions for 10 days after purchase.

Day 57/ March 28
Today we went to the all famous MACHU PICCHU! It was amzing to see the remains of a civilization so long ago. This was a must see site of South America. Plus its one of the 7 wonders of the world!
Day 58/ March 29
Today we went to Moray. This is another Inca Ruin. It is in a circular pattern. It is a mystery what they used it for but it is fun to imagine!
Day 60/ March 31
Today we went to the Regional History Museum. It many inca textiles and remains. It was very interesting.
Day 61/ April 1
Today we went to the Church of San Blas. It is a very popular site due to the the colonial style houses and streets.
